Or maybe it just got torn at some place. Or maybe you just don’t like it. This brings us to the biggest dilemma of all- what to do with them.

Sometimes you want to throw them, but since you could not wear them much, you don’t feel like doing it. The journey to the charity box also does not satisfy you. well, good news for you girls. Here we are going to display you some really amazing ways in which you can transform your old clothes into brand new items by sewing using a sewing machine that will go with your taste and look damn classy. If you are a proud possessor of a sewing machine, march on!

Bags from t-shirts

Who thought you could make a bag out of a t-shirt? Well, the picture says everything.

Things you need:

  • Old t-shirts

  • Sewing machine

  • Scissors or rotary cutter

First of all, turn your t-shirt inside out. Then, cut it out making the hem or bottom of the t-shirt the top of the bag. You can keep the remaining hem or cut it out. However, if you want strong handles, you should keep the hem. It adds to the strength.

Now, stitch! You can either do a straight sew or a narrow zigzag stitch along the sides and the bottom of the bag. Leave it like this. If there is any fray, you can give a finishing touch to it as well. You can do it in whatever style you like. Just make sure the edges look neat.

Now, we need to make the slits on the bag. Use either a pair of scissors or rotary cutter. If you are using scissors, draw lines on it. And then cut them. Or if you are using a rotary cutter, use ruler and grid to guide you so that you make straight cuts. Leave room for the handle.

Now it is time to stretch. Stretch it as much as you can. Just don’t tear it out. And you are done!

Sweater pillow

Got an old sweater that you just cannot give up and yet cannot continue wearing? Here is what you can do to it and give it a second life.

Things you need:

  • Sweater

  • Pillow

  • Buttons

  • Thread

  • Sewing machine

First of all, cut out a front and a back cover for the pillow from the sweater. Keep the front portion a little smaller. You don’t need to polish the ends unless the threads start coming out on their own. Use a rotary cutter if at all you need to trim them.

Now pin the two faces together. The good faces must lie inside as of now. Sew the other three edges using a zig zag stitch. Now, turn the sweater outwards. Insert pillow. Now, fold over the extra piece from the back part onto the front. Sew it to close it using a button. Ta-da! Your own personal favourite sweater pillow is ready!

Sweater to skirt

Another great DIY option is to turn your sweater into a skirt. If you still want to continue wearing your favourite sweater, you can turn it into a skirt. Here is how you can do it.

Things you need:

  • Sweater

  • Scissors

  • Elastic

  • Sewing stuff

Make a straight cut across the front and back from the arm pits.

Now, turn it inside out and stitch it straight making a seam. If it puckers anywhere, sew in a straighter fashion. Finish off the edges using a zig zag stitch. Now fold over the tops and start to sew. You should do this in such a way that it does not break off when you wear it. Now, using a safety pin, pull-out an elastic and wrap it around. And that’s how it is done!

Infinity scarf from loose PJs

It might seem weird, but yes, this thing is totally possible. If you are bored of your old PJs, you can recreate them to be your infinity scarf. This is how you can do it.

First of all, take the PJs, and cut it along the inseam for both legs. Now, lay them on the top of each other, with the wrong side sticking outwards. Next, pin the bottom ends together and sew. Again, fold it sideways, wrong side outwards, and sew again.

Then, fold it in half and tuck the open ends inside one another. Sew again. Give it a clean seam. And you are done!

Diamond smocking your t-shirt

Got a t-shirt that you want to redesign? Here is how you can do it.

Things you need

  • Sewing stuff

Now, start sewing all the marked corners. When you turn it outwards, you are going to see a beautiful pattern. Tada!

Tshirt bracelet

Cut out thin strips of your unused t-shirt. Sew four such strips together. Now loop it like given in the picture. Tighten it.

Next, make a loop like this.

Keep knotting. It should be stretched enough to cover your entire wrist. Now, sew the ends together. Pep it up with a bow or a button. You go, girl!
