Brother PE770 is an embroidery only machine. As the name suggests, it is the upgraded version of PE700, which seems to be discontinued or is not readily available in the market.
Large Embroidery Area
It has a maximum embroidery area of 5″ x 7″. This space gives embroidery experts the flexibility needed to embroider large designs. With its moveable space, you can do monograms, lettering, and embroidering on items such as tote bags, quilt squares, handbags, pillow covers, jacket backs, and so on.
Brother PE770 Embroidery Machine is well designed to meet the needs of the future. The most important feature of this embroidery machine is the computer connected via a USB port. You no longer have to purchase an embroidery machine with pre-programmed designs and features like this. This allows you to import designs from the internet to your machine.
Thousands of designs are available at iBroidery.com, Brother’s designs website. Import designs using your USB memory card or other USB devices. You can also get machine software updates via USB. This innovative feature enables experts to create impressive and creative embroidery projects every time.
The LCD touch Touchscreen
This display is where most of the settings and controls are. The display is very intuitive; even first time users will find it easy to use. Yes, it has a small screen, but it provides brightly lit illumination to help users find their way around the machine even in the dark. Two LEDs provide this well-lit illumination. It is well-positioned on the machine to enable easy access, handling, and operations.
Also, Brother PE770 is compatible with Brother Embroidery cards, excluding Disney cards. The built-in memory allows you to store away your custom designs. Users can store frequently used designs, hence reusing them when need be without overloading the machine.
Another useful feature is the on-screen help, which means you can view tutorials on the screen itself rather than reading the user manual. However, on-screen use is limited to basic stuff; you still have to read the manual for detailed information.
The machine comes with 136 built-in embroidery designs and six built-in lettering fonts, which in itself provides a wide variety of design options, in addition to the infinite number of designs you can get online. You can also rotate the patterns at 1 degree, 10 degrees, or 90-degree increments.

Automatic needle threader and thread cutter
This saves a lot of time. For instance, when you are working on an embroidery project, and the sewing pattern comes to an end, or you wish to change the thread, you can do this without stress. With just the button, you can cut the lower and upper threads and automatically thread your needle.
- Top drop-in bobbin makes it easy to load.
- Maximum embroidery speed of 650 stitches/min
- Weighs about 16.40 lbs
- Dust cover included
- 25-year limited warranty.
What more can you ask for?
Brother PE770 VS PE800
Brother PE770 and PE800 are both popular models in the embroidery community. They are both easy to use, feature a library of designs, and have flexible customizations; hence embroidery experts are often confused about their differences and which to go for. We hope to demystify the mystery in this session.
In terms of design, both models have similar designs. However, PE800 has a colored touchscreen. PE770 has been discontinued to pave the way for PE800, a newer and more technologically advanced model, yet, the differences can’t be noticed at a glance.
They have different LCD touchscreens and different shapes. The colored PE800 touch screen enables users to see their designs and make adjustments while working. Also, it has a more spacious work area than PE770, which has a cramped space.
PE800 features a library of designs much more than PE770. Its full-colored touchscreen has 11 built-in fonts, 138 pre-installed designs, one cylindrical font, and 3 Japanese fonts. It allows you to install and edit designs to suit your needs.
Both models are good, no doubt, but PE800 is a more advanced and newer version and safer to use.
Parts and Accessories
Brother PE770 Embroidery machine features the following accessories:
- Seam ripper

- Cleaning brush
- Spool caps
- Spool net
- Accessory bag
- Operation manual
- USB cable
- Reference guide
- Presser’s feet
Other parts include:
- Embroidery designs
- Lights and bulbs
- Frames and hooks
- Updates, upgrades, and software
- Thread cutters/needle threaders
It has to be one of the easiest machines to the thread; the automatic needle threader makes it even easier. Regarding design imports, you don’t need any specific software to import designs, simply connect the machine to your computer and download images in .pes or .dst format. Brother PE770 comes with the standard 5×7 hoop, but you can use hoops of different sizes. Loading the hoop is very easy. I love this machine because it has the ability to pause the pattern, just in case you want to adjust something. You can even set the machine to stop automatically when it runs low on thread. The quality of the stitches is as good as those high end $1000 machines.
It doesn’t come with a stabilizer. You have to buy it separately.
Some way the factory preset bobbin tension doesn’t seem right on this machine. This issue has been pointed out by several users. You will have to tweak it a little bit for the perfect results.
- Easy to learn and use
- Easy to thread
- Computer connectivity
- In-built memory
- Requires tension adjustment
- User manual needs improvement
Brother PE770 is easy to use, easy to learn embroidery machine. It is an affordable and long lasting machine. By this time, I am sure that you have already read a lot of embroidery machine reviews and you should have come across a similar model called Brother PE770. It is the best seller among embroidery only machines. Both are similarly priced as well.
What makes Brother PE770 better than Brother PE700?
Both machines are the same. The difference is only in the kind of USB port on each machine. On Brother PE770 you have a USB cable port, which means you need to place your computer right next to the machine to import designs. Brother PE770, on the other hand, has a USB port that can accept thumb drives or USB sticks, which is more convenient as you don’t need to place your computer next to the machine. You can easily copy the designs from the USB stick to your machine.
It is pretty much evident from the sale reports that most people prefer PE770 over PE770. The report says 26 PE770′s are sold by the time when 1 PE770 is sold. So my recommendation will always be Brother PE770, as they have almost the same features.
